Photographed copyright attorney Morgan Pietz for the ABA Journal (trade publication of the American Bar Association). The article was highlighting a case of copyright infringement, perpetrated by so-called ‘copyright trolls’. The magazine editor was hoping I could play off this idea, staging the portrait under a bridge. We spoke with Mr. Pietz about it, and he was up for it. So I pre-scouted about a half dozen bridges in the LA area to find one that would suit our needs (and would not risk getting my well-dressed subject mugged before the shoot was over). On the day of the shoot, my assistant and I arrived early, chose 3 different setups, and pre-lit the first shot before our subject arrived. We ran through the setups in under 30 minutes, and had Mr. Pietz on his way.
